The Comeback Kids

The Comeback Kids It is probably one of the biggest phenomenons in any sport today, the comeback. The quarter back leads team to win from a 20 point comeback. Swimming captain brings team back to win from a 10 meter deficit. Lead off batter hits a walk off homerun to end the game in extra innings. The comeback can be what either makes you or breaks you. You will either go down in history as one of the best. Or you can go down as coming so close but not being able to accomplish it. These are just a reminder of some of the greatest comebacks to ever happen in the history of sports. The colts in 2003 came back down by 28-7 heading into the fourth and in five minutes scored 4 touchdowns to beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 2004 the Boston Red Sox over came a 3-0 deficit in the series to beat the Yankees 4-3 and buy their way into the World Series. In 1980 BYU came back with 3 touchdowns in 3 minutes to beat Southern Methodist. Anybody has the power to make a comeback. It does not always have to be the team captain, or the best player on the team. Sometimes it is the most unlikely people who lead the greatest comebacks. To create a comeback you need to have the heart. You need to have the determination. You need to have the will to win. As a great man said and I quote “Once you want to succeed as much as you want to breath, that’s when you will be successful.” Patience can be one of the greatest virtues. It may not seem like it in a comeback, but rushing anything will likely lessen the quality of the outcome, whether it is in sports or just life in general. You have to almost be3 able to stop the clock with your mind. Stop everything that is going on around you and focus on that one moment in time. Telling yourself and your teammates that this is your time, and that no one will take it from you. It really separates the weak from the strong and the mature from the babies. Who knows maybe one moment will come where it is your turn to make the comeback. Are you ready to make the necessary sacrifices? Are you ready to stand up and lead? Or will you cower away and hide. These questions can only be answered by your heart. Sometimes you have to dig deep. You will be surprised at what you find.
