Referees
You either love them or you hate them, there is no way around it. Both feet clearly touched green before stepping on the white chalk. But the ref swings his arms across his body saying incomplete. You can argue for hours, weeks, months, but if there is no challenge flag then what he says goes. This is a touchy topic for all sports.
Refs, just saying the word can bring hatred, anger, and happiness all at one time into myself. Every athlete knows what it is like to be in a game where they favor you and where they favor the other team. Some wish to argue if refs are even an asset to sports. Many coaches in all sports are limited to a certain amounts of challenges per game or match. A challenge is where the coach believes the ref is wrong so they go back and look at it. It has shown multiple times in the past that the refs call the play a completely wrong way, and if a team has no more challenges left what makes it fair that the ref can make a wrong call and it is upheld.
Believe it or not many refs also tend to favor teams, weather they are the underdog or the top notch team. We give referees way more power than they can handle or deserve. Just think about it, one call by a referee can change the outcome of a whole game. Like when the field goal refs say no good when indeed the kick sailed through the up-rights, or when his knee was clearly down but they still call it a fumble. That completely gives the other team an easy way to score of a play that should have never been upheld. I think it would be fairer if the rules were more like the touchdown rules are now. Every touchdown or scoring play has to be reviewed.
So maybe the NFL and NCAA should change the penalty rules to review every penalty called on the field. They have proven to the nation that they make wrong calls and a lot of them. Why pay someone to do their job the wrong way when you could pay someone to do it the right way for the same amount. It’s as simple as this, refs cant handle this much power in a game. There for the NFL and the NCAA need to further restrict the referees powers in a single game.
